Hand-decorated Venetian mask. This is the quintessential Venetian mask, representing the old merchant. His nature is ambivalent: he is often portrayed as rich and powerful, and at other times he is completely ruined, but nonetheless with a strong and distinctive character. Characteristic is the costume, with the long breeches that later took the name “pants.”
