Description
The Bautta Opera Mask…
Venetian handmade mask decorated by hand The “bautta”, was a mask typically used in the past during the Carnival of Venice. It was a hood that covered the head up to the shoulders, was made of silk, and left only the face uncovered.
Mask and “bautta” were held together by the hat called “tricorno”, which was usually never removed.
This disguise was so usual that it was called a habit and wearing at least the mask, had become a widespread use of everyone. See also other venetian masks in category Bautte.
