Description
The Black Bautta mask…
Hand-decorated Venetian mask. The “bautta” was a mask typically used in the past during the Venice Carnival. It was a hood that covered the head to the shoulders, was made of silk, and left only the face uncovered.
Mask and “bautta” were held together by the hat called “tricorn,” which was usually never taken off.
This disguise was so customary that it was called a habit and wearing at least the mask, had become a widespread use of all.. See also other Venetian masks in the Bautte category.
